COONEEN SPRING LEAGUE OPENS UP WITH CORRIGAN WIN
The Cooneen sponsored Castlehume Spring League event got under way this week with a large field taking to the beautifully manicured Castlehume Course for the 15 Hole event. With scoring made a little easier by the friendly pin positions and favourable weather, it was Ryan Corrigan who took advantage with a winning score of 35 points. The Castlehume stalwart was in excellent form with a run of Pars and very steady Golf throughout the Round. A winning start to this years event. In second place by virtue of a bb6 was Graham Veitch with a score of 33 points just pipping the ever improving Davy McQuaid into third spot. Congratulations to all our Week One winners of this very popular Event. Members are reminded that a presentation will take place in the Clubhouse on Friday 25th January updating members on the proposed amalgamation and recent Rules changes. CATHCART RAISES THE BAR DURING WEEK 2 OF WINTER LEAGUE THRILLER
Roy Cathcart was in superb form during Week 2 of the Cooneen Group sponsored Winter League at Castlehume as he claimed a first place in the weekly Competition. With the Castlehume Course holding up well and despite some changeable weather, Roy put together a very solid round of Golf over the shortened 15 Hole Course as he compiled Pars and Birdies to accumulate a winning 37 point total. With a strong field chasing hard, Rory Judge put in a BB6 strong finish to claim runner up spot with 36 points from the very talented Sean Kealy.
Congratulations to all our Week 2 winners who performed exceptionally well this week. The 8 week Competition will continue this week with entry open to all members. Full details from the Pro Shop at Castlehume.
All members are reminded that there is a Quiz Night at Castlehume on Friday 19th October in support of the Willow Bridge School. All members and visitors welcome with proceedings starting from 7.30 pm. Refreshments will be available on the night.

EMMETT KEEPS NERVE ON THE FLATLEY TO SECURE WINTER LEAGUE GLORY
Another high scoring week in the Cooneen Group Winter League was only decided on count back after Emmett Flatley and Robert Watson both returned superb scores of 36 points over the shortened Castlehume Course. With playing conditions remaining favourable during the week, Emmett and Robert played solid Golf and were rewarded with some memorable approach shots and wonderful putting on the manicured Greens. A bb6 was the only separating factor on this occasion and will no doubt be a great inspiration to both players in the coming weeks. Completing this weeks podium winners was Stephen Doherty with a score of 35 points. Congratulations to all our Week 3 Winter League winners. The Winter League continues this week with members reminded that they can re-enter the Competition at any stage. Full details available from the Pro Shop.

WINTER LEAGUE HAILS NEW WINNERS AND A HOLE IN ONE
Another exciting week of the Cooneen Group sponsored Winter League brought new winners to the podium and a super Hole in One on the shortened 15 Hole Castlehume Course.
With the weather taking a turn, it was all the winter Golf skills that came to the fore as scoring was excellent again this week with very little to separate the top 10 players. Mark Gilmurray, playing some of the most consistent Golf throughout the year was a dominant figure this week as he recorded the winning score of 36 points in a round that saw some wonderful short game skills and clutch putts dropping at the right time. This well deserved winning round will no doubt be a bench mark for the coming weeks of the Competition. In runner up spot and just holding on to second place by virtue of a bb6 was Gordon Armstrong. The Castlehume stalwart has always performed well during the winter season and has the ability to make the most of the soft lies particularly around the Green. Completing the podium and with a lot to celeb rate this week was Hole in One Star Matt Keenan also with 34 points . A steady start to the round was catapulted into overdrive as he struck a beautiful iron shot into the heart of the 6th Green before it disappeared before his eyes into the Cup for a stunning Hole out. A great memory for Matt and it was duly celebrated in style at the end of the round. Congratulations to all our Week 4 winners and to all those players who have supported the Competition.
A remindere to all eligible Senior members that the final outing of the year will take place at Castlehume on Monday 5th November with a Draw taking place at 10.30 am. All welcome.

JUDGE RULES IN WEEK 5 AT CASTLEHUME
Week 5 of the Cooneen Group Competition at Castlehume saw Rory Judge complete a great week with a winning score of 37 points. A display of short game magic coupled with a wonderful "2" took Rory to the Winner's podium just pipping the ever consistent Roy Cathcart - 36 points and Ulster Cup Star Gary Coulter - 35 points. Scoring this week has been excellent with very few shots separating the competing field. With the Winter League Competition now half way through it is all to play for for the competitors competing for the Overall Winter League Title.

MCINTYRE ENTERS WINNERS CIRCLE IN WEEK 6 OF WINTER LEAGUE
The Cooneen sponsored Castlehume Winter League produced another new winner this week as Noel McIntyre set the stage alight with a well crafted score of 36 points. The 15 Hole shortened Castlehume Course was in wonderful Winter condition and Noel made the most of the favourable set up as he put together a very solid round of Golf. In runner up spot and making a welcome return to the headlines was Ulster Cup player William Neary with a very steady score of 34 points just pipping Gary Beckett into third spot by virtue of a bb6 score. Congratulations to all our Week 6 winners of this hotly contested Winter League series.The Castlehume Seniors held their last event of the year with a large turnout taking to the Castlehume Course in favourable weather conditions. Scoring was made a little testing with the Winter flag placements requiring skilful play to get close to. Congratulations to all our winners as follows:- Overall Winner Gordon Forsyth; Category Winners :- Stephen Wilson, Joe Woods and Lily O'Connell. A thank you for the excellent organisation of Albert Connor throughout the year and to all those members who supported the events.

HIGH SCORING WINTER LEAGUE SUCCESS FOR MCGURN
Castlehume welcomed another winner to the Cooneen sponsored Winter League Competition this week as Garvan McGurn raced to the Winners Podium with a stunning 40 points. The Castlehume golfer has been knocking on the door over recent weeks and this memorable performance has put the cat amongst the pigeons as the Winter League reaches an exciting finale.
With Tristan Treacy returning a score of 36 points by virtue of a bb6 to claim runner up spot and the ever steady Gary Beckett also 36 points completing the winner podium this week, the Competition has now been turned wide open with at least 5 Golfers still very much in the hunt for the overall Winter League Champions title. With two weeks remaining, this has been one of the closest Winter League Competitions in recent years and it will no doubt go down to the wire. Congratulations to all our Week 7 Winners.

BRENNAN WINS WEEK NINE BUT JUDGE RULES SUPREME IN OVERALL WINTER SERIES
The nine week Cooneen sponsored Winter Series at Castlehume came to a dramatic finale this week as Week 9 Winners Colin Brennan 38 points, Kieran Dunne 35 points and Steven Reid 34 points added their names to the long list of weekly winners that enjoyed much success this year during this very successful and hotly contested Winter Series.
With scoring between the top 5 Contenders going down to the wire, it was the consistency and high scoring of Rory Judge that just topped the overall leaderboard with a superb final score of 231 points. In second place overall with a score of 230 points was Gary Coulter closely followed by Ulster Cup Star Nigel O'Connor with 228 points. The overall final scoring could not have been any tighter with all the final results going down to the very last round to get an outright winner. Congratulations to all our winners and to all those competitors who made this Winter Series such a success for the Club.
With another Golfing year coming to a close, it will be all change this week as the new Office Bearers and Committee take top their roles for the 2019 Golfing year. The Club will be hosting the Derryskillen Cup this weekend -8th December with all members invited to play in this annual Competition.
